When creating a new template in ZeroThreat, the extension automatically opens in a new tab alongside the target page. However, in some cases, this may not happen due to browser restrictions or unexpected behavior. If the extension does not launch as expected, Then we have an alternate method that you can use to manually open the extension.
For opening and using the chrome extension in ZeroThreat On-Prem version. Refer to ZeroThreat Extension
Before continuing, make sure the ZeroThreat Chrome Extension is installed and enabled in your browser.
If the extension does not open automatically, follow these steps to load it manually:

- Click on the extension icon
in your Chrome toolbar. - Select ZeroThreat Extension to open it.

) in Chrome and pin it for quick access.
- Retrieve the Required Tokens:

- Copy the Token and take note of the Target Code displayed on the page.

When manually opening the ZeroThreat Extension, make sure you open it from the target application tab, not on the ZeroThreat portal itself.
The extension needs to attach to the target application page you want to record. Opening it from the ZeroThreat portal may prevent the recorder from loading correctly.
- Click Open Step Recorder to complete the setup. Your extension should open now and you can proceed with your recording normally.

Do Not Enter the Target URL in On-Prem Application URL
Inside the ZeroThreat Extension, you may see an On-Prem Application URL setting.
Do not enter your target application URL in this field. The target application is the website you want to scan or record, not the ZeroThreat portal URL.
For ZeroThreat Cloud usage, keep this field empty. Only ZeroThreat On-Prem users should configure this field with their actual On-Prem portal URL.

- Ensure the extension is installed and enabled in Chrome.
- Try restarting the browser and retrying the steps.
- Check if any security policies or browser extensions are blocking it.
If third-party cookies are blocked in Chrome, the ZeroThreat Extension may not open or load correctly.
In the target application tab, check whether Chrome shows a message or icon indicating that third-party cookies are being blocked. If you see this, allow third-party cookies for the target page and retry opening the extension.
After enabling third-party cookies, refresh the target page and launch the ZeroThreat Extension again.
- Double-check that you have copied the correct values.
- Refresh the Zerothreat page and generate a new token.
